๐จ Storm Shelter Update ๐จ
The storm shelter is now closed as the threat of severe weather has moved out of our area.
The Abilene Police Department will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide updates if the situation changes. If severe weather returns, the shelter will be reopened as needed.
Please continue to stay weather-aware and have a safe place identified in case conditions worsen.
โ ๏ธ TORNADO WARNING โ STORM SHELTER OPEN โ ๏ธ
The City of Abilene and Dickinson County are currently under a tornado warning.
The Abilene Police Department is opening the Abilene Storm Shelter at:
๐ Eisenhower Elementary School
1101 N. Vine Street
Abilene, KS
Residents who need a safe place to shelter are encouraged to seek shelter immediately. Please monitor weather updates and stay alert for further information.

The storm shelter located at Eisenhower School, 1101 N. Vine Street, is now closed.
We will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates if circumstances change. Thank you for your cooperation, and please continue to stay weather aware.
The Abilene police officers are in route to open up the storm shelter at at Eisenhower elementary school at 1101 North Vine Street

ADAPT AND OVERCOME! Despite Mother Nature's effort, the Chiefs will be ready to begin serving lunch at 11:00am!

This Thursday, May 28th, 2026, Chief Strunk and Chief Wilkins will be serving the community in a different manner.....they'll be serving lunch!! Stop by the Abilene Fire Department between
11:00am and 1:00pm for a free hot dog meal courtesy of the Chiefs!

We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely. If severe weather redevelops or threatens our area again, the shelter will reopen as needed.
