The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for Southwest Virginia.
Low humidity (30–35%), wind gusts up to 25 mph, and dry conditions will increase the risk of fires from late Monday morning through early evening.

Dry air, low humidity, and wind gusts up to 25 mph will make it easy for fires to start and spread.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Chaplain, Dennis Eastridge.
Dennis had been battling illness for some time, and he truly fought a good fight with strength, grace, and unwavering faith. Even during his sickness, he continued to encourage those around him.
Throughout his time with our department, he was a steady source of comfort, wisdom, and strength. He had a way of speaking life into difficult moments and reminding us why we serve. He was deeply loved by our department family and by all who knew him.
We are grateful for the impact he made on each of us, and his legacy of faith and encouragement will not be forgotten.
Please keep his family and our fire department family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Issued
Due to a main line break on Brumley Gap Road, a boil water advisory is in effect for WCSA customers on:
Brumley Gap Rd (23261 to Hayters Gap Rd), Hayters Gap Rd, Fire Department Rd, Clinch Mountain Rd, Sleigh Hill Dr, Mullins Dr, High Hope Ridge, Poor Valley Rd, Tumbling Creek Rd, Aistrop Rd, Adrian Ln, Harrison McCray Dr, North Fork River Rd, Eldreth Dr, Forgotten Ln, Roan Ln, Tahoe Trail, Ginger Ln, Rosebud Ln, Possum Hollow Rd, Cross Creek Rd, Hunter Dr, Althea Dr, and Red Hill Ln.
Customers in this area should boil water until further notice from the Washington County Service Authority.

If power outages occur, Washington County Emergency Services has prepared a warming center at the Hayters Gap Community Center, available on an as-needed basis. The facility is equipped with generator power.
⚠️ The warming center will not be staffed, so please bring your own food, medications, and personal necessities.

❄️ Winter Storm Warning in effect from 1 PM Friday through 1 AM Sunday [01/30/2026-02/01/2026]
The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow across portions of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
❄️ What to expect:
• Snow accumulations of 3–7 inches
• Locally higher amounts up to 10 inches in higher elevations
• Wind gusts up to 35 mph
🚗 Impacts:
Travel could become very difficult, especially during the Friday evening commute. Hazardous road conditions are likely.
🧤 Preparedness:
If travel is necessary, keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including:
• Flashlight
• Food and water
