🔥 Congratulations to our very own retired FF/PM Randy Ahlgrim! 🔥

This week, Randy is volunteering at the Camp I Am Me by Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, helping provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for burn survivors from across Illinois.

At the conclusion of camp, volunteer staff members are recognized for reaching milestone years of service. These dedicated individuals spend a week away from their families, friends, and work commitments to make a positive impact on the lives of burn survivors.

Please join the Addison Fire Protection District #1 in congratulating Randy on this well-deserved recognition and thanking him for his continued commitment to serving others. Your compassion, dedication, and willingness to give back truly embody the fire service tradition of helping those in need.

Aside from the possibility of a few scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm this evening, conditions are expected to remain mostly quiet through Saturday.
After a mild and pleasant Saturday, our next significant chance for rain arrives on Sunday. Temperatures will also trend slightly cooler as we move into next week.

🌪️ Are You Tornado Ready? 🌪️

Severe weather can develop quickly, and being prepared can make all the difference. Addison Fire Protection District #1 encourages all residents to review their tornado safety plans before storms arrive.

✅ Know where to shelter – a basement or an interior room on the lowest level of your home.
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and warnings.
✅ Keep an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, medications, and important documents.
✅ Practice your family emergency plan so everyone knows what to do.

When a Tornado Warning is issued, seek shelter immediately. Do not wait until you see a tornado.

Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe.

☀️🌡️ July Brings Extreme Heat to Our Area 🌡️☀️

As temperatures rise this July, it’s important to take precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your pets from heat-related illnesses.

✅ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
✅ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
✅ Take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
✅ Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and those with medical conditions.
✅ Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle — temperatures can become deadly within minutes.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating in extreme heat, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Stay informed about local weather conditions and heat advisories. A few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe this summer.
