It's MATCH DAY in Arlington!! We're excited and ready to welcome the world to our city!! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

And apparently, the fans are ready too!!

This morning, we helped es**rt the famous Dutch Oranje March (and their double decker bus that they shipped from the Netherlands) to the stadium!!

We've seen a few things in our day around the Entertainment District, but nothing quite like that!!

We’re estimating that about 15,000-20,000 people participated.

We hope everyone has a fun and safe time this afternoon!!

As Arlington gets set to welcome the world, we really hope someone out there welcomes this sweet pup into their family! It's time y'all!

This is Steven Meyer, our Police Legal Advisor. And today, he'd like you to meet his pal Benji, an 8-month old Doberman / Cur mix!

If he looks familiar, well it's because we featured him here last week too. We REALLY want to get him adopted! 😎

Benji is a very friendly boy who LOVES chew toys and playing fetch! He has some energy, so he'll definitely need a family who can keep up with him. But he's worth it!

If you'd like to give Benji a "furever" home, you can visit him at City of Arlington, TX - Animal Services, which is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd.

Be sure to give shelter staff his ID number when you arrive: A0061046913

25 years ago, we lost a brother and a great man. On June 7, 2001, APD Corporal Joseph Cushman was tragically killed in a training accident.

This morning, we gathered at our Training Center to pay tribute to his life and legacy. We were honored to have members of his family and several of his close friends join us. Our hearts are with them.

We will NEVER forget Corporal Cushman or his service to the Arlington community. 💙

Today marks another year since the tragic and senseless murder of Leona Swafford, an 83-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was taken on June 4, 2013. She was returning home to her residence on Sussex Drive when she was carjacked and kidnapped from her own driveway. Later that day, officers located her body on Kimberly Drive. It was determined that she died from a gunshot wound. Despite years of investigative work and countless leads, her case remains unsolved.

Witnesses to the carjacking/kidnapping provided detectives with detailed descriptions of the suspect that we used to generate a composite sketch. We share this with the public once again in hopes that someone either recognizes him or knows someone who looks like him.

For Leona's family, the pain of losing a loved one has never gone away. More than a decade later, they are still waiting for answers and justice. We remain committed to finding the person responsible and ensuring Leona's story is never forgotten.

Someone knows what happened. A conversation, a memory, or a piece of information that may have seemed insignificant years ago could be the key to solving this case today.

If you have any information regarding the murder of Leona Swafford, please contact Homicide Detective Krystallyne Robinson at (817) 459-5935. You can also submit a tip through our Cold Case webpage:
https://www.arlingtontx.gov/City-Services/Public-Safety/Police-Department/Police-Programs/Cash-for-Crooks/Cold-Cases

No matter how small the detail may seem, it could make all the difference.
