Thank you to everyone who came out today for our screening of "Echoes From The Hill" at Fielder Museum! We had a great turnout of about 25 people, many of whom were first-time visitors or hadn't visited in a while.
We also want to thank the Reverend Carl Pointer for joining us, introducing the documentary, and leading an insightful and engaging discussion afterward. Our curated Black history exhibit highlighting the Johnson, Givens, Ditto, and Pointer families will be up through June.
If you missed the screening or would like to watch it again, it is available on YouTube at the link below.

We want to wish the Arlington Garden Club a happy anniversary! The group organized on June 9, 1926, with 31 charter members.
Though they celebrated in April with a special event, today marks 100 years of growth, gardening, and community. We appreciate the hard work they do at Fielder Museum and throughout the community!
Congratulations on 100 years!

Marker Monday! Today, we remember the beloved Persis Forster—known to many simply as Miss Persis—who passed away on June 8, 2021. This sign and her honorary Street Sign Topper are located near the Miss Persis Studio of Dance in Downtown Arlington.
Born in 1929 in Port Arthur, Miss Persis attended North Texas Agricultural College (now UTA) before graduating from UT Austin. She went to New York City with dreams of Broadway, but ultimately returned to North Texas, establishing the Miss Persis Studio of Dance in 1954 and the Dance Theater of Arlington in the early 1980s.
An accomplished performer, director, and choreographer, Miss Persis is best remembered as a dedicated instructor. Well-loved and active in the community for decades, she left a deep influence on Arlington's arts and culture scene.
