Neighbors, please join us Tuesday, June 23rd, as we celebrate Dr. Jason Shelton’s swearing in to the Arlington City Council.

This is a meaningful moment for our community, our neighbors, and everyone who believes Arlington’s future should be shaped by the people who call this city home.

But the work does not stop with the celebration.

Two important items on Tuesday’s agenda, 11.22 and 11.23, deserve our community’s attention. These items would allow additional gas drilling activity along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, raising serious questions about environmental justice, neighborhood health, and whether our city’s decisions truly reflect our values.

If our mission is to build a stronger Arlington where every voice is heard and every community can flourish, then we have to ask: why are Black and brown neighborhoods still being asked to carry more of the burden?

Come celebrate this important new chapter with us, then stay engaged for the issues that matter to our community.

The results of this election matter. But so does who shows up. In 2026, thousands of new voices joined Arlington's municipal elections. That is a story worth celebrating!

This victory is a reminder of what people-powered organizing can accomplish. Thank you to the volunteers, supporters, voters, and community leaders who dedicated their time, energy, and passion to this effort.

We look forward to seeing Dr. Shelton continue serving Arlington and helping build a city that reflects the values, needs, and aspirations of all who call it home.

Today we celebrate. Tomorrow, the work of building the American Dream City continues.
