Jen for APS BOE District 4

The greatest thing to happen to APS since I have been on the Board was the hiring of Dr. Bryan Johnson. I am very happy to share with my community that at last night’s final BOE meeting of this school year, the Board of Education voted unanimously to extend his contract. ⭐️

The total $ amount the NAHS Class of 2026 received in scholarships and grants this year. 579 grads, big dollars. Incredible. Let’s Go Dubs.

A fantastic day celebrating these Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers. It was a great experience to speak at their commencement for the first time and even greater to see the incredible connection that faculty and staff have with this very polished and accomplished group of seniors. Excited to see bright things ahead for all of them.

An amazing day celebrating almost 600 graduates from North Atlanta High School. It is always an incredible honor to speak at their commencement, and I’m so proud of this phenomenal group of kids. Simply awesome to celebrate you and to see some of my favorite former Dubs as well. Also graduating is one of the most incredible groups of parents who are saying goodbye to APS because this is their last kiddo in the district. These are parents I have worked alongside since 2012 & their contributions to every school we have been at would take pages to document. They taught me exactly what it means to be a parent leader. So grateful for you. It is fantastic to work with you but more importantly, to call you friends. And I cannot be more proud of the leadership of this district. We vote next month to extend Dr. Johnson’s contract & I simply cannot imagine APS without him or the phenomenal leadership that we have in our cluster Principals. This district will only keep rising.

So fun to pass out gifts from the APS central office to the outstanding group of teachers working at Jackson Elementary Main today as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. And thank you Seth & Vicki Salzman for this great tee to wear while I was doing it. 💥 

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is about to launch. Awesome idea from Sarah Smith Elementary School PTO & SSEF to invite families to “Chalk the Walk” at both campuses this weekend to express gratitude. I took two cute friends with me. 😊 Chalk is provided so SS families, please stop by. ❤️

Yesterday will be one of my favorite events of the year. We celebrated every single Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Star Student (highest SAT score) & Star Teacher from every high school in the district. This is why we do the work, so that we can also be in the room to celebrate the accomplishments & success of these students. Standing ovation for each of them and special congratulations to Claire Collins, Arjun Mitra, Nathaniel Laing, Mr. Robinson & Ms. Dozier from North Atlanta High School and to Adelaide Huffman, Aleck Carter, George Boggs & Mr. Clausen from Atlanta Classical Academy. Your talent has no limits. ❤️

Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers hosted an incredible panel that included Dr. Johnson and two other Atlanta civic leaders, Dr. Hobson and Leo Smith, for a highly impactful conversation about the history of Atlanta. One of the best school events I’ve attended.

This is the level of leadership and talent Dr. Johnson is bringing to this district. Congratulations Greg! We are so happy to have you here bringing much needed change to APS Athletics as a whole. ⭐️
