🎓Congratulations to the first graduating class of Building Georgia! 🏗️
Friday we celebrated a milestone! Building Georgia — a first-of-its-kind workforce initiative built to connect skilled Georgians with the infrastructure jobs our state needs most -- celebrated its first graduates.
This initiative of the Atlanta Regional Commission, the Technical College System of Georgia, and the Georgia Department of Transportation will help Georgia meet the need for more than 136,000 infrastructure workers. These graduates are stepping up to fill that gap — with skills, credentials, and careers that will help build the roads, bridges, and systems our region depends on.
To every graduate: you are the foundation of Georgia's future. We couldn't be prouder. 🏗️🎓

Last month, three years of alumni from our Community-Centered-Design class gathered for the annual CCD reunion. The community of civic- minded planners, artists, community leaders, and government workers shared space at the local cooperative coffee shop, the Ke’nekt. We released the 2025 CCD publication, shared backstories of creative community engagement updates, spent time learning about participatory budgeting, and collaborated on utopian city prototypes.
The cohort’s three biggest priorities: Mother Nature, moving through the city, and collective ways of living.
The application for this year's CCD cohort is now open and includes an updated price.
The Ke’nekt, Build a Better Blacksville, Austell Local Food Task Force, and the South River Watershed Alliance join CCD as community partners this year.

The skies finally opened in May, but our water worries are not over. That’s because Lake Lanier remains about 4 feet below full pool. Despite the wet month, it’s still important to conserve. Learn more at mydropcounts.org

It's not too late to make your game plan?
The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Georgia Commute Options (GCO) program hosted a webinar titled “Is This the Olympics Again: Making a Game Plan for Commuting During World Cup.” The session featured insights from William Pate, President & CEO, Atlanta Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (ACVB); Lenor Bromberg, Deputy Commissioner, Atlanta Department of Transportation; and Johann Weber, Program/Project Administrator, GCO.
