Little pantry, big goals. The Philip Weltner Library now has its very own seed pantry! 🌱 Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to both give to and take from the little seed library as they please, the pantry’s motto being “Take a seed, grow a seed.”
Located at the main desk, the pantry comes pre-stocked with a variety of fruit 🍉, veggie 🥕, and edible flower 🌺 seeds for the OU Community to take, replenish, nurture, and grow. With goals of becoming a campus-wide initiative, the Philip Weltner Library seed pantry is here to encourage sustainable self-sufficiency on campus.

Gather ‘round for a Gardening Gathering Update! 👩🏾🌾
It’s been over a month and the Library’s little garden has grown SO BIG! 🙌🏾 Student and Library assistants have found much joy in nurturing and tending to the sprouts. 💚
Witnessing the seedlings grow into such hearty, vibrant plants over such a short time has been a profound exercise in patience and care—not just for the fruits 🍉 , veggies 🥕 , and flowers 🌹, but also for ourselves too. A little care here and there can yield bountiful results!
Stay tuned! A harvest will be headed our way soon! 🌾

The end of the 2026 school year saw big changes at the Philip Weltner Library! Six student workers and one staff member are leaving the Library to start adventures anew.
And what better way to see someone off than a party?! 🎊🥳🎉 Everyone had a blast commiserating and reminiscing on fond memories that you could only make here at Oglethorpe. 💛🖤💛🖤
While it’s with heavy hearts that we at the Library are saying goodbye to these wonderful employees, we keep our heads up in the hopes that they will all find success, happiness, and wonder in their futures!

As bittersweet as it is to say goodbye to one of our very best, Philip Weltner Library is proud to cheer on Olivia Chapman as she writes the next chapter of her life’s journey! 🥹 Today, May 8th, marks her last day as the Library’s Interim Technical Services Librarian. 📚
Olivia has been an integral part of the Philip Weltner Library since October 2024. While working with us this past year-and-a-half, Olivia has grown to love learning about students and their interests through how they use the Library both as both a space and a service. She’s really going to miss working with and talking to the student workers, each of them bringing their own unique personalities and skillets to the Library and Archives. Olivia’s fondest Library memory was when she got to hear the stories and memories from the members of the Lynwood Park Foundation and their efforts to preserve their historic neighborhood through the Lynwood Park collection.
Olivia’s hard work was the backbone of Library operations while her warmth and kindness were the Library’s heart. ❤️ We at the Philip Weltner Library wish her nothing but the best as she embarks on new adventures in sunny Orlando, Florida!
If she could leave students, faculty, staff, and patrons some parting words, Olivia says
“If you have time to spare, come in and enjoy the library as a space!”
