Father’s Day is this Sunday, so here's a little inspiration for making memories while fishing, camping or simply grilling in the park. Picnic shelters have room for everyone, and you'll find kayak rental, disc golf, history museums and even golf courses. Some parks have planned Father’s Day events like a scavenger hunt at High Falls or rim hike at Cloudland Canyon. Outdoorsy dads will appreciate gift cards which can be used for cabins, yurts, boat rental, tee times and more -- or check out park gift shops for books, t-shirts, hats and hiking sticks.

On June 3, representatives from Georgia Power, Georgia DNR Engineering & Construction, and the State Parks and Historic Sites Division gathered at Tallulah Gorge State Park to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the park’s beach and day use renovation project. Georgia Power Lake Resources Manager Jeff Jackson presented a contribution check to Parks Director Angie Johnson in support of the project.

Thanks to this generous contribution and the continued strong partnership with Georgia Power, the renovation will modernize aging infrastructure and beach amenities, while adding ADA-accessible canoe and kayak access that will enhance recreational opportunities for park visitors and paddlers alike. The project represents a shared investment in expanding outdoor recreation, improving accessibility, and ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy one of Georgia's most iconic state parks.
