USG’s Board of Regents today named the members of the Fort Valley State University Presidential Search Committee, launching the national search for its next leader. The new president will build on the legacy of Dr. Paul Jones, whose decade of leadership helped make FVSU into one of the South’s best public HBCUs.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Chancellor Perdue’s longtime colleague and friend, former Regent and Georgia House Majority Leader Larry Walker Jr. A fellow Houston County native, Walker served alongside Chancellor Perdue for many years at the Capitol and in advancing higher education across Georgia. The Board of Regents has appointed three new presidents to institutions across the University System of Georgia, marking an exciting next chapter for each campus. Dr. Greg Tanner has been named permanent president of South Georgia State College; Dr. Russell Crutchfield will lead Gordon State College, and Dr. Kerry J. Palmer will join Georgia Southwestern State University.
