Have you seen a mimosa tree? https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GyshrKvye/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Have you spotted a mimosa tree?
While its fluffy pink flowers may look beautiful, mimosa (Albizia julibrissin) is an invasive tree that can spread quickly to roadsides, stream banks, and old fields.
🔎 How to identify it:
• Delicate-looking, fern-like leaves
• Showy, fragrant pink flowers in early summer
• Flat seed pods up to 6 inches long in late summer
• Often grows with multiple trunks and reaches 10–50 feet tall
Originally introduced from Asia as an ornamental tree, mimosa can be difficult to remove once established due to its long-lived seeds and ability to vigorously re-sprout.
📱 Help track its spread by reporting sightings on the EDDMapS app or at EDDMapS.org. Your reports provide valuable data that support invasive species management and early detection efforts.

Want to help a UGA researcher who's studying how the way we manage our yards, what we plant, what we spray, what we mow, lines up with what we believe about pollinators. The study is open to anyone in the state. No expertise needed.
HOW IT WORKS
1
Online now, about a minute. The first step shares your name and Georgia mailing address so the team knows where to send your survey. https://uga.questionpro.com/a/TakeSurvey?tt=jbAzBKmBkooECHrPeIW9eQ%3D%3D
2
By mail soon. The full questionnaire arrives at your address, along with a $2 cash thank-you for taking part.
A mailing address is required. It is the only way the team can get the survey to you, so without one there is no way to send it and no way to take part. Your address is kept separate from your answers and is deleted once the surveys go out.
