Marietta SoccerFest ’26 continues at the Strand Marietta Saturday, June 27!

In partnership with the City of Marietta, The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre will host a FREE watch party for Saturday's FIFA World Cup matches in its air-conditioned auditorium.

Catch three matches on the big screen:
Panama vs. England | 5:00 PM
Congo vs. Uzbekistan | 7:30 PM
Jordan vs. Argentina | 10:00 PM

Enjoy the matches with fellow fans, plus access to The Strand’s full bar and snacks. Admission is FREE and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTICE OF VACANCY ON THE MARIETTA BOARD OF LIGHTS & WATER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Marietta City Council is interested in receiving applications to fill the Non-Resident/Business member post on the Marietta Board of Lights and Water Board of Directors. Board members are appointed by a majority vote of the City Council following personal interviews. Candidates for interviews will be selected based on a strong business background, their familiarity with utility systems, and their financial and operations experience.

Qualifications:
City Charter Section 5.1 - Created; membership; terms; etc.
(D) One nonresident of the city who resides in Cobb County within the board's service district and who has received either electric, power, water, sewer, or telecommunications service from the board for at least one and one-half years; and
(E) One member who resides in Cobb County who either:
(i) Meets the qualifications set forth in subparagraph (D) of this paragraph; or
(ii) Who is a business owner or employee of a business that has been, for at least one and one-half years, the recipient of electric, power, water, sewer, or telecommunications service from the board within the board's service district, but outside of the corporate limits of the city. If a business owner or employee, the business that said person owns or is employed by must continue to be a recipient of services from the board within the board's service district outside of the corporate limits of the city during the term served by such person, or such person shall immediately become ineligible to serve, and such person's seat on the board shall be deemed vacant.

The applications will be received by the Marietta City Clerk’s Office at 205 Lawrence Street, 4th Floor, Marietta, Georgia or by email at [email protected]. The application is also located on the City/BLW’s web page at www.mariettaga.gov. Those interested may contact the Marietta City Clerk’s Office at (770) 794-5526 for an explanation of qualifications, duties and responsibilities of prospective members.

Polk Street is getting a NEW lighted crosswalk at the elementary school!

To complete the installation, Polk Street will be CLOSED with a detour between Cleburne Avenue and Ridge Avenue on Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26.

Streets will reopen as soon as work is complete. Please use caution and follow posted detour signs in the area.

Revisiting Zion – The Story of 88 Brave Souls

The Old Zion Heritage Museum is excited to present its rich history through the visual arts. It was 160 years ago that a courageous story began - Zion Production: "Revisiting Zion: The Story of 88 Brave Souls whose spirit and resilience still endure today. Experience their journey in a spectacular event that will feature moving segments of the stage play, Zion! Written by Ms. Beverly Austin.

Two performances are offered on Saturday, June 27 at the Marietta Performing Arts Center. One at 2:00 p.m. and the other at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets:
Matinee: $30 Adults | $10 (12 & under)
Evening: $35 Adults | $10 (12 & under)

Sanitation Holiday Pickup Schedule Reminder: The sanitation pickup schedule has been adjusted this week due to the Juneteeth holiday.

Thursday’s routes are being collected today, Wednesday, and Friday’s routes will be collected tomorrow, Thursday.
There will be no brush or special pick-ups this week.
