What a day! 🍩
DCS joined law enforcement partners across Georgia for the Special Olympics Georgia Cops at Donut Shops fundraiser on National Donut Day. With teams at 24 Dunkin' locations statewide, DCS raised a record $13,044.27 for SOGA athletes!
Our team spent the day connecting with community members, helping raise awareness, and championing an incredible organization that creates opportunities for athletes across Georgia. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit, donate, and cheer on this important cause. We are proud to be part of a community that continues to show up and make a difference.

DCS was proud to support Special Olympics of Georgia by participating in the 2026 Special Olympics Georgia Summer Games at Emory University, the Law Enforcement Torch Run hosted by Gwinnett County Police Department, and attending the Spring LETR Bass Tournament at Lake Sinclair.
Thank you to all DCS staff who volunteered and helped support the athletes, families, and communities that make these events special. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue partnering with Special Olympics Georgia and supporting their incredible mission.

The Gwinnett Day Reporting Center celebrated its 11th graduation ceremony at the Gwinnett County Courthouse, led by Center Administrator Rosa Brown.
These graduations represent accountability, structure, and progress — highlighting the hard work of participants committed to making positive changes and moving forward. Congratulations to each graduate on this milestone and the work it took to get here.

Waycross Circuit Community Coordinator Mande’-kan Mendes-Shuman recently led two community-focused events supporting individuals and families across the region.
“Next Stop: Waycross Hub,” held in partnership with DRC Family Day, brought together 14 vendors in the Waycross DCS parking lot to share resources on education, entry-level employment, health services, and more. The event created space for supervisees, family members, and community partners to connect with opportunities that support long-term goals.
An additional event included a community blood drive held at the Douglas office in partnership with OneBlood. Outreach efforts across the community and nearby businesses helped promote strong participation and support for the drive.

Eight participants were recognized during the Claxton Day Reporting Center’s 16th graduation ceremony in the Atlantic Circuit.
The ceremony highlighted the work and commitment it takes to complete the program and continue moving forward in a positive direction. Congratulations to each graduate on reaching this milestone and the effort it took to get there.

In observance of Memorial Day, all DCS offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, and will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, at 8 a.m.
This Memorial Day, Team DCS honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting our freedoms.

The Marietta DCS Office, led by Community Coordinator LaJohnda Johnson, partnered with the United Women Reentry Foundation to host a Reentry Community Resource Fair at Goodwill Smyrna Career Center.
More than 20 community partners participated in the event, including Cobb Collaborative, Chattahoochee Technical College, Vote Riders, and the Cobb & Douglas Public Health. Over 45 individuals under supervision attended and connected with valuable resources and opportunities focused on successful reentry and long-term stability.

DCS Ogeechee Circuit Community Coordinator Chelsea Womble recently hosted a Family Day resource event, bringing together more than 100 community members for a day focused on connection, support, and opportunity.
Attendees had access to resources for employment, housing, education, recovery support, and healthcare. East Georgia Healthcare Center provided on-site wellness and blood pressure checks, while Truist Bank assisted more than 30 individuals with opening second-chance banking and savings accounts.
The event highlighted the power of community collaboration and a shared commitment to supporting successful reentry and stronger communities.
