Scammers target Disabled Veteran athletes with fake offers of free or discounted adaptive sports equipment. They steal money and personal information by demanding upfront fees for items that never arrive.
Guidance to avoid scams:
1. Buy from trusted sources: Verify vendors before purchasing. Review online reviews.
2. Be Wary of Unrealistic Deals: If a deal seems too good to be true, it likely is.
3. Protect Personal Information: Do not give out your personal or VA account credentials to anyone.
4. Consult VA: If in doubt, consult VA or your adaptive sports program coordinator for advice.
If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to your VA contact person or adaptive sports program coordinator immediately.
Veterans who suspect they have experienced fraud can find out more and report to the appropriate agency at VSAFE.gov or by calling (833) 38V-SAFE.

Thank you to the Colorado Elks, along with the Phil Sousa Band, for partnering with our ECHCS Voluntary Services to host a Flag Day Ceremony at our Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center last Friday.
The Elks have a long history with Flag Day. In 1907, the Grand Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks designated, by resolution, June 14 as Flag Day. The Grand Lodge of the Order adopted mandatory observance of the occasion by every Lodge in 1911, and that requirement continues. The Elks prompted President Woodrow Wilson to recognize the Order's observance of Flag Day for its patriotic expression. But it was not until 1949 when President Harry Truman, himself a member of the Elks, made the proclamation that thereafter June 14 would be a day of national observance for the symbol of our country.
Thank you to the Elks for honoring our country and sharing your patriotisms with us.

There are some limited options for Veterans to be eligible for shoe inserts, but those options should be discussed with your primary care provider. These type of athletic shoes would not meet the VA requirements.
