From mechanical engineering to 22 years of transforming lives in the classroom, Colleen Henry is a total force of nature.
We are so beyond proud to celebrate her as the recipient of the Hello World 2026 Catalyst for Change Award! As a Computer Science teacher at KIPP Austin Academy of Arts & Letters, Colleen was honored for her relentless commitment to opening doors and building true confidence in her students.
From founding our first Girls Who Code chapter to championing CS for every student, her impact is the definition of life-changing. Just look at Nathalia, who started in Colleen's class doubting her own abilities and is now headed to Boston University for computer engineering. This is what happens when a teacher refuses to let a student give up on themselves. Colleen, thank you for making tech and AI literacy a "right now" reality for our KIPPsters.
Join us in congratulating our very own Colleen Henry! ๐๐ปโจ

The future of AI isnโt coming: itโs already being built by our students.
KIPP Texas is proud to partner with Hello World across 22 of our schools in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, including our Transformation Schools. We recently gathered at Capital Factory in downtown Austin for Demo Day, where 15 of our student innovators took the stage to represent the network.
Coming from KIPP Austin Collegiate, KIPP Austin Academy of Arts & Letters, and KIPP Legacy Prep, these students showcased original projects in Python, Data Science, AI, and Virtual Reality. They did more than just present code; they demonstrated a deep mastery of the "why" behind the "how."
Our students aren't just preparing for the AI era, they are actively shaping it as builders and problem-solvers. Demo Day was a powerful reminder of what the future of learning looks like and why this work is so vital for the KIPP Austin and KIPP Houston regions.
