Yesterday, worked through an agenda which included assistance for seniors + disabled residents, access to recycling services, development in East Austin, + more. Watch the meeting at bit.ly/4ofQGrL.
Here are a few highlights:
🚛 City Council authorized the development of noise regulations to prohibit commercial dumpster collection activities at unreasonable hours near residential properties.
🚌 Council members approved a resolution to work with CapMetro and Travis County, Texas - Government to explore additional fare-free transit days during early voting periods and election days.
🏠 City Council voted in favor of an ordinance to increase the $192k residential homestead tax exemption annually for persons 65 and older, as well as persons with disabilities.
🌎 Council members authorized a 5-year agreement with Travis County so county residents can continue to use the Recycle & Reuse Center to responsibly dispose of hard-to-recycle items, hazardous waste, and appliances.
🏨 City Council approved the sale of the St. John Property for multifamily and commercial development. Proceeds from the sale will go toward investment in connectivity, accessibility, and amenities in the historic St. John Neighborhood.
