Juneteenth is Texas history. It is American history.
As we commemorate June 19, 1865, we honor those who never stopped believing in the promise of freedom. Their faith, sacrifice, and perseverance carried generations forward and transformed a moment in Texas into a national call to remember, reflect, and continue the work of justice.
We also honor Opal Lee, the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” whose steadfast leadership helped secure recognition of Juneteenth as a national holiday, ensuring that this important chapter of our history is never forgotten.
Freedom delayed. Never denied.

This Pride Month, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus celebrates the strength, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQ+ Texans across our state.
Pride is more than a celebration—it is a reminder that every person deserves to live authentically, love who they love, be treated with dignity, and have the freedom to thrive in their communities without fear, discrimination, or exclusion.
This month and every month, we honor the advocates, leaders, trailblazers, and everyday Texans whose courage continues to move our state forward.
Pride is Power. Diversity is Our Strength.
Happy Pride Month from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus. 🌈

In moments like these, Texas communities show their strength by coming together to support one another. May comfort, healing, and hope surround every family affected.
Please keep Oak Cliff in your prayers. 🙏🏽
