On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery, nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth marks this long-overdue moment of liberation. 🖤

At Saturday’s Paws to the Polls event, Franklin pulled ahead with 54% of the vote, edging out Gus in a very close race. But this election is far from over!

The votes from Pflugerville are only one stop on the campaign trail. We’ve got more Paws to the Polls events happening all summer long, and every event brings a new chance to cast a ballot, meet the candidates, and help decide who takes the title of Austin Pet Mayor.

So if your candidate didn’t come out on top this weekend, don’t panic. And if they did, don’t get too comfortable. The final result won’t be decided until the end of the summer.
