We had a fantastic time at Chill Act Houston on Saturday! 🎉
A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, Cynthia (Houston Parent Group Co-Leader) and Kelly (Southeast Houston Group Leader), for helping at the Autism Society of Texas table. We also appreciate Radhika, our other Houston Parent Group Co-Leader, for stopping by to support the event and check everything out! A big thank you to yet another amazing AST volunteer, Dr. Mayra Corona of Beautiful Minds, for setting up an engaging sensory space!
Families connected with a wide variety of organizations, gathered valuable resources and information, and enjoyed a day filled with fun and community! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success! ❤️

The Autism Society of Texas along with Autism Society of America opposes today's announcment from the Department of Education to move special education and civil rights enforcement out of the agency.
The Autism Society of America opposes today’s announcement by the Department of Education to move special education and civil rights enforcement out of the agency. For decades, Congress, across party lines, has kept these programs united under one roof.
Dismantling this system fragments the critical journey from school to employment, putting nearly 1 million autistic students at risk of falling through bureaucratic cracks.
We must protect the rights and futures of our students.

Our friends at Dell Children's would like to invite you, as a parent or guardian of a child with Autism, to complete a survey about water safety. The purpose of the study is to learn more about you and your child’s experiences with water safety and seeking or taking swimming lessons (whether or not your child attended swimming lessons).
To qualify, you will be a primary caregiver of a child with Autism under the age of 18 and live within the United States. The survey will take approximately 20-45 minutes to complete.
Your participation will help inform efforts to improve water safety messaging and to make it easier for children with Autism to find and participate in swimming lessons, with the ultimate aim of reducing drowning in this high-risk group.
