Alabama SUN Bucks (S-EBT) is a new, annual grocery benefits program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child. Households that participate in SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid through the school demonstration project can be automatically eligible and don’t need to apply.

Children who are in foster care, enrolled in migrant programs, known by the school to be experiencing homelessness or are attending a Head Start program can also be automatically eligible for Alabama SUN Bucks. Learn more at https://alabama-sunbucks.com

Beginning June 15, free dine-in meals will be available to children, ages 18 and younger, at select Housing Authority of the Birmingham District locations and Birmingham City Schools campuses.

When individuals dedicate themselves to a profession and cultivate a lifelong career, it's a journey of continuous growth and new horizons. This week, we bid a fond farewell to three team members who have chosen to embark on their next life chapter and retire. We are forever grateful for their tireless commitment to Tuggle and the various institutions they served before joining us. Though their presence will be deeply missed, retirement is a glorious opportunity for self-discovery and personal fulfillment. With tireless dedication and expertise, our team of educators has equipped them with the confidence and capabilities to excel in their future pursuits. As they bid farewell to elementary school, we honor the limitless potential that lies ahead. Heartfelt appreciation to the Fifth Grade Team, Ms. Hunt, Ms. White, and Ms. Whiteside, for their exemplary leadership and teamwork at Tuggle. The school year has concluded for our scholars, and we're celebrating a major milestone: our kindergartners' promotion to First Grade! A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Gaines, Ms. K.S. Williams, and Ms. Perryman, whose dedication over nine months has empowered our students to take bold strides into the next academic year.
