Dr. Heath W. Padgett has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to advancing Republican leadership at the local, state, and national levels. Recognized as both a Patriot and the Alabama Young Republican of the Year, Dr. Padgett has consistently led with service, dedication, and results.
As Chair of the Greater Birmingham Young Republicans, he has helped grow engagement and participation within the club. In his role as Executive Director, he has also introduced new programs designed to track success, promote involvement, and strengthen the organization’s impact.
From attending YR and GOP meetings to participating in YRFA State Legislative Day, volunteering at candidate and party events, supporting forums, engaging in policy-focused initiatives, winning an SEC seat, and representing YRFA with congressional offices in Washington, D.C., and beyond, Dr. Padgett’s service reflects a deep dedication to YRFA’s mission and the future of Republican leadership.

Matthew McLain earned recognition as a Champion and YR Man of the Year through consistent participation and active volunteer service. His involvement included attending GBYR meetings, serving as the state committeeman for GBYR, helping facilitate GOP candidate forums, and more. He volunteered for congressional candidates through door knocking and other campaign-related events across the state and has recently been named the treasurer of the YRFA. His record reflects both steady participation and meaningful grassroots action.

Susanna Hernandez earned recognition as an
Advocate and YR Woman of the Year through active participation in Young Republican and local GOP events. Her involvement included regularly attending GBYR and Shelby County YR meetings, serving as state committee woman for GBYR, participating in candidate forums, and more. Her thoughtful contributions demonstrate steady engagement and a willingness to serve in practical roles that help push Young Republicans toward success.

We had such a great turnout tonight at our last meeting before the primary elections! We enjoyed engaging in thoughtful dialogue and learning more about our Republican candidates! It was a beautiful night for pizza and politics!
