Rocky Ridge Fire District
Week in Review: June 6 – June 12, 2026
This week, the Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 72 alarms.
Members worked with several different pieces of apparatus and continued training to maintain operational readiness.
As summer temperatures begin to rise, please be aware that snakes are becoming more active and are being spotted more frequently throughout our area.
On Wednesday, Chief Bartlett attended the monthly Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association (CAFCA) meeting.
We had a good time helping during the final day of Briarwood’s VBS School by providing some water spray for the kids during messy night.
On Thursday, Chief Hambright and Tammi represented RRFD at the Shelby County Fire and EMS monthly meeting.

Rocky Ridge Fire District
Week in Review: May 30 – June 5, 2026
This week, Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 79 alarms.
We have officially broken ground on our new apparatus bay building at our drill field on Veona Daniels Road. This project has been made possible through grants and funding support from the Jefferson County Commission, as well as several Alabama State Senators and Representatives. We are grateful for their investment in public safety and firefighter training.
Members trained with our forcible entry door prop at Station 2 and continued working to ensure that all apparatus and equipment remain in a constant state of readiness. Crews also spent additional time with Haz-Mat 131, sharpening their skills and enhancing their proficiency with our hazardous materials response equipment.

Week in Review: May 23 – May 29, 2026
The week, Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 69 alarms.
We hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. Our crews have been busy conducting fire hydrant flow testing throughout the district.
Additionally, our Training Division set up our forcible entry door prop at Station 2, allowing members to sharpen their forcible entry skills.
We also hosted several individual CPAT certification tests.

Rocky Ridge Fire District
Week in Review: May 16 – May 22, 2026
This week, Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 71 alarms.
Over the weekend, crews from Engine 101 showed children the fire truck as they wrapped up their i9 Sports basketball season. On Monday, members worked with various hose deployment tactics and hose loads.
Chief Ledbetter represented RRFD at the quarterly AARS meeting. Firemedic Lanier attended an Alabama Fire College-certified Fire Officer I class this week.
Thank you to UAB/St. Vincent’s Birmingham for providing our crews with barbecue plates in appreciation of our men and women during EMS Week. On Tuesday, Dr. Duerring conducted EMS training with our crews.
Throughout the week, members spent time detailing apparatus and ensuring the readiness of our equipment. On Wednesday, Station 2 hosted CPAT certification testing for several candidates.
On Thursday, Fire Marshal Crumpton attended the monthly Fire Marshals Association meeting. TNT Fireworks provided a presentation on illegal fireworks being encountered across the state and updates regarding the fireworks industry.

Engine 101, Engine 102, Rescue 111, Rescue 112, District Chief 120, and Chief 100 are currently operating at a motor vehicle accident on Acton Road at the on-ramp to Interstate 459 North.
Please use caution while traveling in this area and expect delays until the scene can be cleared.

Rocky Ridge Fire District
Week in Review: May 9 – May 15, 2026
This week, the Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 70 alarms.
On Monday, Chief Bartlett, along with other EMS leaders from across the state, attended Governor Ivey’s signing of this year’s EMS legislation, now Act No. 2026-349.
Fire hydrant flow testing continues throughout the district. On Thursday, our Medical Director and Assistant State Medical Director, Dr. Shea Duerring, attended Governor Ivey’s signing of this year’s proclamation recognizing EMS Week and EMS Remembrance Day.
Members throughout the week worked on consumption drills. Crews also spent time detailing apparatus and ensuring the readiness of our equipment.
On Thursday evening, Chief Hambright and paramedic Tammi Hambright represented RRFD at the Shelby County Fire and EMS Association meeting, which featured Senator Dan Roberts, Senator April Weaver, and Representative Kenneth Paschal, who assisted in presenting this year’s State Forestry checks.
Members also responded to an interesting snake call this week.

Rocky Ridge Fire District units are working a wreck this morning on Rocky Ridge Road near Wisteria Drive involving a car versus power pole. The broken power pole with low hanging wires has the roadway closed until the power company can resolve the problem.

Rocky Ridge Fire District
Week in Review: May 2 – May 8, 2026
This week, Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 65 alarms.
Our fire hydrant flow testing is in full swing throughout the district. Members also spent time training on hose and fire stream operations. On Monday, Station 2 hosted CPAT certification testing for members of the Hoover RC3 class.
Monday evening, Chief Lord attended the monthly Jefferson County Association of Fire Departments meeting. Crews also worked on physical training with several of our newer members. On Tuesday, Engine 101 welcomed some young visitors for a tour of the fire truck and station.
On Wednesday, Chiefs Lord, Bartlett, and Baker attended the monthly Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association meeting. We wrapped up the week by completing our Annual Evolution Assessments.
As always, members throughout the week worked hard to detail apparatus and ensure the readiness of our equipment.
