Since 1903, YWCA Central Alabama has stood in Birmingham as a place of hope, resilience, and progress—working to eliminate racism and empower women in every generation.
On Juneteenth, we honor the enduring fight for freedom and reflect on the truth in Opal Lee’s words: “None of us are free until we are all free.”
From the early 20th century to today, our commitment remains the same—advancing equity, uplifting voices, and building a community where freedom and justice are realities for all.
Today, we celebrate liberation. Tomorrow, we continue the work.

We love hearing directly from our volunteers!
Last Friday, June 12, YWCA Family Resource Center was thrilled to be part of United Way Central Alabama's Day of Action — hosting a group of this incredible organization's employees for a hands-on volunteer opportunity. It was a day of connection, purpose, and shared commitment to our community. 🧡
We asked Tiffany Bailey, Executive Assistant to the President & CEO, UWCA
"What does community impact mean to you?"
"To me, Community Impact means deliberately creating positive change that addresses real needs and fosters long-term improvement in our community."
— Tiffany Bailey
Thank you to Tiffany and the entire United Way Central Alabama team for showing up and showing out! We are so grateful for partners who don't just talk about impact — they live it. 🙌
