The Station 181 Renovation project is now about halfway complete, and the new building is really starting to take shape.
The first phase focused on demolition, which meant taking down much of the old station while keeping important structural pieces in place for the new facility. This stage exposed memories of the original stationโs past. Construction crews then moved into site preparation and exterior improvements, including an expanded front entrance, a new classroom, and a new footprint showing how the redesigned station will come together.
Work is now focused on the new interior layout, including framing, plumbing, electrical and low-voltage wiring, and major floor rehabilitation. From the roadway, the stationโs finished look is already becoming clear. Inside, the upgrades will improve functionality and create better living spaces for the crews who serve there.

Today crews from Cahaba Valley Fire District and North Shelby Fire Department were able to participate in First Responder Week at Project Pathfinder Summer Camp hosted by Central Alabama Marines-Council. The campers learned about Brush Truck 182 and Brush fire operations from the tools used, to hose deployment. Campers also competed in a relay style Firefighter challenge course, showing their skills in hose rolling, dummy carry and of course hose operations. We are honored to have been invited to participate in such an outstanding program.
