Help Protect Veterans' Burial Benefits 06/10/2026

National Alliance for Care at Home is asking for advocacy help for Gerald's Law (H.R. 7199 / S. 3898).

From NACH:
"Gerald’s Law (H.R. 7199 / S. 3898) is proposed federal legislation, in both the House and Senate, designed to ensure that U.S. veterans receiving Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)-furnished hospice care at home are fully eligible for the burial and funeral benefits they have earned. While Congress temporarily addressed this issue through a pilot program running from July 2025-September 2026, those protections are time-limited. The proposed legislation would allow continued benefits through 2030. Without action, families could once again lose access to the burial and funeral benefits veterans have earned—solely because of where their loved one received care. Gerald’s Law closes this gap, protecting veterans’ rights and preserving their dignity at the end of life by ensuring equal benefit access regardless of where hospice care is delivered."
