๐พ COYOTE AWARENESS REMINDER ๐พ
We have recently received reports of two separate coyote attacks involving dogs in different areas of our city. Thankfully, both dogs survived and are recovering.
Coyotes are a natural part of our environment and can be found throughout the city. While sightings are not uncommon, it's important to take precautions to keep your pets safe.
๐ Tips to Protect Your Pets:
โข Keep dogs on a leash when walking.
โข Avoid allowing pets to roam unattended, especially at dawn and dusk.
โข Keep cats indoors whenever possible.
โข Remove outdoor food sources such as pet food, bird seed, and unsecured garbage.
โข If you encounter a coyote, make yourself appear large, be loud, and slowly back away while maintaining eye contact.
Coyotes can be found in any neighborhood, so awareness and prevention are key. By taking a few simple precautions, you can help keep your pets safe while coexisting with local wildlife.
If you observe aggressive coyote behavior, please report it to Animal Control at 952-563-4942.
Stay safe, Bloomington! ๐พ
