It was great to have everyone back in one place together at our annual Department Meeting today. Everyone got an update from Command Staff, years of service recognition was presented, and our Employees of the Year were recognized. All in all, a great morning!

Our supervisors were recently treated to a cool training at their monthly meeting thanks to Air St. Luke's. Andie, a critical care flight paramedic (and ACP alum) gave an hour-long presentation about helicopter safety, including landing zones, operational safety, and proper communications. After the presentation, the group went to Expo Idaho where they practiced calling in a landing, including loading a patient while the rotor blades were spinning. This training and cooperation is appreciated and just might help save lives.

Congratulations to Academy Class 26-1 as they received their official badges today and will report to the Field Training program! We were also happy to promote a number of our providers to Paramedic, Field Training Officer, Captain, and Battalion Chief. We also had a Captain, Battalion Chief, and Deputy Chief who were pinned by their loved ones while on vacation. Congratulations to everyone! We look forward to your service.

Here in Ada County, we are lucky to be able to enjoy a lot of activities on A LOT of water around the county. From Lucky Peak to the Boise River to Swan Falls and everywhere in between, folks enjoy their time on and in the water. Which means our Paramedics and EMTs have to respond to emergencies around water from time to time. Yesterday, our New Hire Academy Class 26-1 learned water safety and best practices in water rescues from the Boise Fire Department Dive Team. This training could help save lives in the future, which is why we put so much emphasis on it.

This morning, some of our awesome Field Paramedics were recognized by LINC and the SILC - Idaho at the Ada County Commissioners open business meeting. Paramedics Geisel and Price were formally commended for “their leadership and innovation in delivering inclusive Stop the Bleed training within our community.” It has been our pleasure to work with LINC and the Independent Living Council, and we look forward to our continued partnership in the future. Great work Heather and Cody!

With our Academy Class 26-1 in full swing, it was a good day out in Eagle as our new paramedics and EMTs worked with personnel on vehicle extrication scenarios. Teamwork is paramount on these critical calls, and we hope these reps will serve them well throughout their careers.

Another great afternoon spent at the Ada Community Library Lake Hazel “Touch-a-Truck” event. The unofficial theme in our ambulance today was the importance of wearing your seatbelt. Thanks for having us!

What a great morning yesterday as we were able to participate in the Hidden Springs Truck-a-Rama event. We were able to speak with dozens of kids and their adults about what we do as paramedics and EMTs, as well as show them our cool ambulance. Thanks for having us!
