Attention Young Riders & Parents! 🏍️

Summer is here — and so is your chance to ride smarter and safer! We're offering FREE Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Safety Courses for riders under 16.

Idaho law requires unlicensed operators under age 16 to complete an Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation approved safety course before riding on National Forest Service roads and public lands designated or maintained for OHV use (Idaho Code 49-302(11)a). These classes make you a better, more confident rider and keep everyone on the trail safer.

All classes will be held at Kuna Butte, located at the intersection of Kuna Mora Rd and Forrey Rd in Kuna. For a full schedule of dates and times, check out the flyer in the comments or visit the Idaho State Parks & Recreation website at reced.idaho.gov.

Plan to bring a parent or legal guardian, a properly sized and operational OHV displaying a valid 2026 or 2027 OHV sticker, a DOT-approved helmet, eye protection, gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and over-the-ankle boots. Proper gear isn't just a requirement — it's what keeps you riding all season long.

To register, visit reced.idaho.gov. Questions? Email Detective Bunnell at [email protected].

Summer is officially here — and our deputies spent the day making it count across the county!

Sheriff Clifford, Chief Deputy Hessing, and Deputy Kastler joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters Summer Kickoff Event in downtown Boise, connecting with Bigs and Littles for a great morning together.

At Barrister, Deputy Roberson and Forensic Scientists Stacy and Heather brought crime scene investigation to life for foster youth at Freedom Youth Foundation's Junior Deputy Day!

Out in Kuna, deputies turned heads at the Terra-Tactile event, giving kids up close access to the vehicles that keep Kuna moving. And in Star, deputies and kids cast their lines together at the annual Star Police Fishing Rodeo.

We're proud to serve every corner of Ada County — have a safe and happy summer!

Do you find comfort in a balanced ledger? So do we!

We're hiring an Account Clerk II for our Civil Division — and if your idea of a good day involves numbers that actually add up, you might be exactly who we're looking for.

This role is responsible for maintaining approximately 3,000 individual trust accounts and supporting Civil Process operations as set forth in Idaho Code. You'll work with a degree of independence, applying your judgment daily within a clear and structured framework.

Take a look at what our deputies responded to in April 2026!

These numbers reflect activity of unincorporated Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputies — including both calls for service they responded to and proactive activity they initiated.

Citizen calls for service are generated through calls to Ada County Dispatch. Proactive activity is deputy-initiated and can include traffic stops, suspicious vehicles, extra patrol, follow-up investigations, and other self-initiated enforcement or prevention efforts.

Note: These numbers do not include deputies assigned to our contract cities of Kuna, Eagle, or Star.

Our Financial Crimes Detectives specialize in uncovering fraud and holding offenders accountable. They analyze financial records, track transactions, interview victims and suspects, and work with banks and other agencies to gather evidence and build cases for prosecution.

In Ada County, detectives are seeing an increase in scams involving supposed missed court or jury appearances. Residents are receiving fake texts, emails, and phone calls claiming they must pay a “bail” to avoid arrest. Scammers often use spoof phone numbers to make it appear the call is coming from a legitimate law enforcement agency.

When scammers make contact, they will often create a sense of urgency, fear, and isolation to get people to comply. They will try to keep you on the phone or remain in close contact with you while you retrieve the money or information they requested.

Detectives want the community to know that if someone calls saying they are from a government agency, they will never ask for payment with crypto, gift cards, or wire transfers. If the caller is asking for any of those things, it is a major red flag, and you should hang up the phone or ignore the text.

We are extremely thankful for the efforts of our financial crimes detectives, whose work helps protect Ada County residents from scammers everyday!
