Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) have increased out-of-pocket costs for patients, narrowed where Americans can choose to access their prescription medications and in turn pushed long trusted independent pharmacies across the country out of business. We are grateful for Senator Mike Crapo and his leadership on the Senate Finance Committee to rein in PBMs predatory practices. The time to pass meaningful and comprehensive PBM reform is now.
The Opaque Industry Secretly Inflating Prices for Prescription Drugs Pharmacy benefit managers are driving up drug costs for millions of people, employers and the government.
The ripple effects of the Change Healthcare cyberattack have been far reaching and are still ongoing. Insurance/PBM industry vertical integration fails to reduce patient out-of-pocket costs or increase medication accessibility. Instead, it has squeezed out competition and raised barriers to patient access to prescription medicines that are less profitable tor the mega-corporations, regardless of affordability or clinical effectiveness for patients. Looking forward to hearing Group give answers on prevention & how they will help providers at testimony before Senate Finance Committee tomorrow! Mike Crapo
