Ada County Commissioners voted Tuesday, June 16, 2026, to prohibit fireworks in areas of Unincorporated Ada County that constitute a severe fire threat. If you live in Idaho, you know wildfires are a constant threat to lives, homes, and property. The threat of wildfires this year is significantly greater in Ada County due to a combination of persistent drought, historically low snowpack, early drying fuels, and extreme early-season heat waves.
Where is Unincorporated Ada County? Unincorporated Ada County is roughly 847 square miles of the county that are *not within the city limits of Boise, Meridian, Kuna, Garden City, Eagle, or Star. Unincorporated Ada County is home to more than 63,000 people. Please contact the city in which you live to learn of any city-specific fireworks prohibitions in place.
Ada County Commissioners have voted to prohibit fireworks in unincorporated Ada County for more than ten years.

If you like knowing how your property tax dollars are determined, this is for you. Ada County elected officials and department heads are presenting their FY27 budgets to the Ada County Board of Commissioners this week. Officials will share what they’ve accomplished, the efficiency measures and innovative processes they use, and their plans and projects for the upcoming fiscal year. Even though Ada County collects property taxes, we do not keep all of that revenue. Interesting factoids to know and understand: Schools, cities and smaller taxing districts like cemetery and library districts and the highway district make up 76.4% of the taxes we collect and then distribute. The portion that goes to county functions is only 23.6% of the pie, and the lion’s share of those funds goes to public safety and courts. Presentations are there for you to watch, either live or at a later point. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmREyet73vxhBFCffWClEKA
