Ronnie Ortiz Jr. was a beloved member of our community whose life was shamefully taken from us to gun violence.

Today, I was so proud to join his family to officially rename the McCarren Park ball field in his honor.

Incredibly grateful to the Ortiz family, Williamsburg Softball League, thepursuitforronnie, and Council Member Lincoln Restler for their years of advocacy to get this done.

So while bureaucracy fails our neighbors, we're stepping up to the plate and partnering with to provide hot meals. Special thank you to the Whitman Houses TA President, Ms. Julie Sharpton, for fiercely advocating for her neighbors.

Yesterday I had the honor of joining P140K@26 for their Kindergarten Step Up Ceremony.

I’ve invested over $9 million to build sensory rooms at every D75 elementary school in Brooklyn, including P140K@26. We’re setting a new standard when it comes to showing up for Brooklyn’s families and supporting students with different needs.

Congratulations to today’s kindergarten graduates and their families! 🎓
