Safety Stand Down 2026 takes place June 14-20 with a focus on Firefighter FITNESS: Fit to Serve, Fit for Life. Fitness is a critical component in keeping responders healthy, safe, and ready to serve their community. Regular physical activity supports physical capacity, recovery, and overall well-being, key components for safer performance, better quality of life, and longevity in, and beyond, the fire service.

The Burbank Fire Department is committed to supporting our personnel through the foundations of functional fitness to strengthen our firefighters’ abilities to respond and sustain career longevity.

👏Congratulations to Brennan Blazer for being recognized as the 2026 Burbank Firefighter of the Year! As a Firefighter/Paramedic, he has shown an exceptional level of dedication, professionalism, and pride. He approaches the job today with the same work ethic, humility, and motivation he displayed as a probationary firefighter. His commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth is a defining feature of his service. He has proudly served as both the Secretary-Treasurer on the union board and a member of the Peer Support Team, representing and supporting personnel.

Firefighter Blazer has distinguished himself as a leader among his peers. He brings a positive attitude to work every day. He has built strong relationships with both department personnel and the community we serve. He represents the Burbank Fire Department’s values in the highest regard and continuously demonstrates what it means to be a dedicated public servant and teammate.

We were excited to welcome participants from the Summer Workforce Readiness Program at the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Greater East Valley to the Burbank Fire Department! 🚒

Our members enjoyed sharing what makes the fire service such a rewarding profession and providing local youth with a behind-the-scenes look at the many opportunities available in public safety. Thank you for visiting—we look forward to seeing the next generation of community leaders and first responders!
