π Recovery Is Not About Being Someoneβs Savior π
One thing we often see in the recovery and mental health community is the belief that one person, one program, or one resource is the reason someone recovers.
The truth is, no single person is the answer to someone elseβs recovery.
Recovery happens when people begin to believe in themselves, reconnect with their strengths, and build a community of support around them. Connection is the opposite of isolation, and isolation is often where both substance use and mental health struggles thrive.
At Carroll County Mental Health Advocates and The Recovery Spot of West Georgia, our role is not to βfixβ people or do recovery for them. Our role is to walk alongside them. We work with people, not for them. We help connect them to resources, opportunities, and supports that allow them to build a foundation for lasting wellness and recovery.
Every personβs journey is different. The person seeking recovery is the author of their own story. They are the one doing the hard work, making difficult choices, showing up for themselves, and continuing to move forward even when itβs challenging.
We believe in empowering people to find their own voice, discover what recovery and wellness look like for them, and build a life they are proud of. When we focus on empowerment rather than dependency, we help create stronger individuals, stronger families, and a stronger recovery community.
Recovery isnβt about one person. Itβs about connection, community, hope, and the courage to keep writing your own story. π

π Recovery Is Possible for EVERYONE π
Have you ever heard someone say, "Only 2% of people with addiction recover"?
Unfortunately, that statistic gets repeated far too often. Not only is it an inaccurate representation of recovery outcomes, but it can also create a sense of hopelessness for people who are struggling and considering taking their first step toward recovery.
Imagine being told that you only have a 2% chance of success before you even begin.
At Carroll County Mental Health Advocates and The Recovery Spot of West Georgia, we choose to focus on possibility, not pessimism.
We believe that every person has the capacity to recover when they have access to the right supports, resources, opportunities, and community. Recovery is not reserved for a select few. Every day, people overcome substance use disorders, mental health challenges, trauma, and life's obstacles to build meaningful, fulfilling lives.
When we continue to spread discouraging and inaccurate statistics, we risk reinforcing stigma and convincing people that recovery is out of reach. Instead, let's share hope. Let's share stories of resilience. Let's remind people that recovery happens every day.
The truth is simple: Recovery is possible. People do recover. Lives do change.
If you're struggling today, don't focus on a number. Focus on the next step. There is hope, and there are people ready to walk alongside you.

π Advocating for More Recovery Options in Carroll County π
Today, our team had the opportunity to meet with Rhoda, a representative for Sublocade, to discuss ways we can expand access to Medication-Assisted Recovery (MAR) services in Carroll County.
Medication-Assisted Recovery is a successful, evidence-based pathway to recovery for many individuals living with opioid use disorder. Recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and neither are MAR medications. People deserve access to a variety of treatment options that meet their unique needs and support their recovery journey.
Unfortunately, Carroll County currently has limited MAR providers and medication options available locally. Many individuals are forced to travel outside the county to access treatment. When transportation is already one of the largest barriers faced by the people we serve, this creates additional challenges for those seeking recovery support.
We believe that everyone deserves access to quality, evidence-based treatment close to home. Thatβs why weβre excited to be part of the conversation and actively advocate for increased recovery resources in our community.
Weβre grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Rhoda and explore solutions that could help expand treatment options for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together for the recovery community in Carroll County.
Recovery happens when people have access to hope, support, and options. π

We are incredibly proud of our own Hannah Grant for making history in Georgia as a certified member of the first-ever Maternal Peer Support cohort, graduating yesterday!
This groundbreaking training brought together inspiring women committed to supporting mothers! Along the way, powerful stories were shared, meaningful relationships built, and a strong foundation was created for future maternal peer support services across our state.
At Carroll County Mental Health Advocates and The Recovery Spot of West Georgia, we are honored to walk alongside mothers on their journey, reminding them that they are never alone. Congratulations, Hannah, on this remarkable achievement and for helping pave the way for others who will follow in your footsteps!
