We’re getting closer to the opening of the Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center in Cabarrus County, where Monarch will be providing behavioral health crisis services starting later this year. 💙

We are proud to have been part of the 2026 Open Minds Autism & I/DD Executive Summit, where Monarch CEO Dr. Peggy Terhune and Medical Director Dr. John Latz presented a lunchtime session entitled "What Actually Works: Monarch’s Integrated Care Model For I/DD & Co‑Occurring Behavioral Health & Substance Use Disorders."

The session shared Monarch's innovative approaches to treating individuals living with both intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and mental illness. Learn more about our mental health services for people with I/DD at https://ow.ly/w35X50Zc0jO. 💚

When a young person is in a mental health or substance use crisis, families are often left asking the same urgent question: where do we go for help? 💔

Often, the emergency room (ER) is the first thought. But for someone experiencing a behavioral health crisis, ERs often mean overwhelming environments, longer wait times and limited access to specialized care. Our Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) is built specifically to support, stabilize and guide individuals through these moments with care designed around their needs.

Monarch currently has a BHUC in Raleigh, NC and will soon be staffing both an Adult BHUC and Youth BHUC at the Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center in Concord, NC later this year. Learn more at https://ow.ly/jBcV50ZaFV3.🦋

A Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) is a walk-in service for people experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis to gain access to quick, specialized care. ❤️‍🩹

A safe alternative to visiting the emergency room, a BHUC visit involves a team of licensed therapists and skilled medical professionals collaborating to assess, stabilize and connect people to longer term care if needed.

We are thrilled to bring this service to Cabarrus County later this year with the opening of the Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center (SMMBHC), which will include both an Adult BHUC and a Youth BHUC. Additionally, the SMMBHC will include a Facility-Based Crisis (FBC) Center and a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF), making the transition to longer term care from the BHUC readily accessible.

Learn more about the SMMBHC and Adult and Youth BHUCs at ProgressStartsHere.org. 💙
