As we commemorate this important day, we reflect on the ongoing pursuit of justice, equity, and opportunity for all. Juneteenth serves as both a celebration of freedom and a reminder of the work that remains to build a more just society. Happy Juneteenth!!

Our summer interns had the opportunity to hear from our incredible leaders in the Advancement & Communication department at Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy. Thank you to both speakers for sharing your expertise, experiences, and commitment to expanding access to justice in our community. Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy is a member of The Children's Alliance and supports them in their efforts encouraging community partners and community members to contact state legislators tomorrow, June 10th, to encourage them to pass a comprehensive state budget.

The lack of a current state budget creates challenges for many children and families.

Did you know North Carolina is the ONLY state in the country operating without a current state budget?

Our budget should have been finalized at the end of last year's legislative session. Instead, North Carolina is still operating on 2023 funding levels while children, families, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations face 2026 realities.

No budget means uncertainty for:
✅ Public schools
✅ Child care programs
✅ Mental health services
✅ Medicaid and SNAP administration
✅ Foster care and juvenile justice services
✅ State employees and teachers

Children and families can't wait.

Wednesday, June 10, join the Children's Alliance State Budget Advocacy Day.

Take 5 minutes to call or email your state legislators and ask one simple question:

WHERE'S THE MONEY?

It's time to finish the job and pass a state budget that invests in North Carolina's future.

Empowering communities through education and access to affordable legal support is at the heart of CCLA’s mission.
Last week, our dedicated legal experts from the IJP Program met with community members to answer questions, explain legal processes, and provide guidance on court hearings, requirements, and what to expect every step of the way.
Do you or someone you know may have a legal question and need guidance? We’re here to help.
Join us at our next consultation session and take the first step toward understanding your legal situation with confidence.
