This evening, severe storms rolled into Hamilton County causing trees and wires down on the roadways. Our Hamilton County 911 dispatchers have been busy diligently taking everyone’s emergency calls!
Be careful as you venture out this evening!

Chattanooga was blasted by storms Monday night (6/22/26), making things very busy for Red Shift firefighters across the city. Calls quickly poured into 911, like wires down, fires, flooding, and large trees on homes. We have no injuries to report at this time, thankfully. The structural damage caused by downed trees displaced several families. Trees fell in multiple locations, including:
4100 block of Kirkland Avenue
300 block of S Howell Avenue
800 block of Mount Vernon Circle
2000 block of N Chamberlain Avenue
3300 block of Adkins Road
Please do not drive through flooded roadways or drive over downed power lines.

National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Hamilton County Tennessee until 6:45 pm. DESTRUCTIVE eighty miles per hour winds! Take shelter in a sturdy building, away from windows! Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter! Stay tuned to local media!

** BE WEATHER AWARE - MONDAY **
The National Weather Service in Morristown, TN reporting multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected on Monday. There will be a chance early in the morning, but the strongest storms are likely to hold off until the afternoon and evening.
Bottom Line Up Front:
· Thunderstorms expected to form Monday Afternoon and evening along a frontal boundary.
· Strong winds look to be the primary threat, but a brief tornado in southeast TN cannot be ruled out.
· Lots of moisture in the atmosphere means these storms will be capable of heavy downpours, with over 1 inch of rain per hour.
What Has Changed:
There is a low-end chance of a brief tornado across southeast Tennessee in the afternoon/evening.
Confidence:
· Medium confidence on timing of storms
· Low confidence on the location of strong storms
· Medium confidence on flooding impacts from storms

Hamilton County Fire Training Division:
I am pleased to announce the start date and details for our annual Hazmat and Firefighter-I program. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
This year, we will be providing books for the Hazardous Materials portion of the course, and myself and Chief Clift will be the lead instructors for Hazmat as well as FF-I.
Books for the Firefighter-I portion are still required and must be provided by the departments. Same books as last year.
Please feel free to share this course information far and wide with anyone who is not included on this email.

** ROAD CLOSURE**
The Hamilton County Highway Department will close Roberts Mill Road on Tuesday, June 16 from 9 AM to 4 PM.
This closure is necessary to perform scheduled maintenance on the roadway and ditch lines. Motorists should plan to use the W Rd. or Signal Mountain Blvd./Taft Highway to access or leave Signal Mountain during this time. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this important maintenance work is complete completed.
