The city broke ground Thursday on Andersonville’s first pedestrian plaza, Elise Malary Plaza. Its namesake was a local Black trans woman who worked to expand mental health care access and economic opportunity in the trans community.

Good morning neighbors. I’m taking a sick day today as I have had a cold for a couple days now and want to make sure I’m not getting anyone else sick. As a result we will not be hosting ward night tonight. See you next week!

Happy Juneteenth! Today, we celebrate the day that Black Americans were freed from slavery, we mourn for the lives lost to slavery and to its continued legacy, and we commit to continue fighting for a truly just and free society––because we know that none of us are free until all of us are free.

Join us on Saturday, June 27th to celebrate the new and improved Ainslie Arts Plaza, and the completion of the Lincoln Avenue North Streetscape!

The ribbon cutting will take place at 11am, followed by the kick-off event from 12–6pm, including live musical performances, food trucks, face painting, chalk art, and vendors selling their artwork and crafts. We hope to see you there!
