Yesterday, in commemoration of the 14th anniversary of DACA, Congressmembers Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Congressman Danny K. Davis, and Congressman Chuy Garcรญa, along with other local officials, held an oversight hearing on protecting and expanding pathways to citizenship for DACA recipients and undocumented immigrants.

This hearing comes during a time when DACA is increasingly under attack, including a recent decision from the Board of Immigration Appeals that would make it easier to deport DACA recipients.

HANA community member, healthcare worker, and DACA recipient Sam Lee shared his testimony calling on a permanent pathway to citizenship:

โ€œImmigrants work in hospitals, schools, childcare, restaurants, and many other places that are essential to our society and economy. But we are more than just our labor and the taxes we pay - we build community and support people where systems fail. Our immigrant communities are under attack, and we need a permanent solution. We need a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants, and we need it right now. I call on Congress to fight for our neighbors by passing the Registry Act and abolishing ICE. Every person deserves dignity and has the right to belong.โ€

[ํ•œ๊ตญ์–ด โฌ‡๏ธ] People's Academy is back on June 20 with 'Building Bridges Between Communities and Culture'!

In this bilingual Korean and English community gathering, we'll explore the connections between Black resistance art and Korean Minjung (Peopleโ€™s) art.

Through art, conversation, and a collaborative mural activity, weโ€™ll reflect on shared histories of survival, resistance, and community care while imagining what solidarity can look like in everyday life.

๐ŸŒบ What blooms when ICE melts?

Korean drumming has long been used as a symbol of resistance and liberation, representing courage, solidarity, and a renewed sense of community togetherness.

Join us for "Itโ€™s on Us: A Day of Art and Action" to experience the power of drumming as a form of protest and solidarity with HANAโ€™s drumming group, IlGwaNoRi (IGNR).

IGNR will start the day with a pungmul (traditional Korean drumming) performance at Horner Park before hosting a drumming workshop for the public. Weโ€™ll finish the event with a picnic with light food and refreshments.
