芝加哥中華會館中華學校6月20日舉行2025-2026學年度結業典禮，本處類延峰處長偕僑教中心雷琪主任與陳怡珍副主任應邀出席致賀，肯定中華學校長年辛勤辦學、推展中文教育及文化傳承，勉勵學子百尺竿頭、學有所成。校長陳偉聖、中華會館董事長陳莎莎、歷任前主席及全體師生家長出席。典禮中並頒發教師獎、學生品學兼優獎、紀律模範獎及兒童繪畫比賽優等獎多項殊榮，以及成果表演。

駐芝加哥辦事處類處長延峰6月17日下午很高興歡迎行政院青年諮詢委員會副召集人、台灣開放民主守望協會理事林彥廷來處會晤。林諮委於2024年獲歐巴馬基金會遴選為青年亞太領袖之一。此次特別應邀前來芝加哥市出席歐巴馬中心開幕典禮，並將於開幕期間會議中分享AI與民主治理、防治假訊息的台灣經驗。類處長與林諮委就鼓勵台灣青年投入國際、參加青年百億計畫等議題充分交換意見，期待我國優秀青年接續前來美國中西部拓展視野、進行國民外交！

世界臺灣同鄉會聯合會鄭紹方總會長及北美洲臺灣婦女會底特律分會翁碧蘭總幹事伉儷6月17日自密西根州至芝加哥，並與駐芝加哥辦事處類延峰處長敘舊話家常🍵。

酒會現場安排精彩音樂及舞蹈表演，充分展現菲律賓多元豐富的文化魅力，氣氛熱絡溫馨。類總領事亦與日本、韓國、加拿大、泰國、瑞士及印度等國總領事及領事團代表敘舊交流，並向芝加哥市議員、威斯康辛州眾議員等美國中西部政要分享台美關係近年穩健深化的進展，持續促進台灣與中西部各界的友誼與合作。

🇹🇼🇵🇭 Celebrating Taiwan–Philippines friendship in Chicago!🇺🇸

Director General Dennis Lei attended the Philippine Independence Day reception today at the invitation of Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano of the Philippines. The event brought together elected officials from across the Midwest, members of the Consular Corps, and the Filipino American community. Director General Lei extended his warm congratulations to Consul General Diano and wished the Philippines continued prosperity and success.

The reception featured vibrant music and dance performances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. Director General Lei also had the pleasure of reconnecting with Consuls General and Consular Corps representatives from Japan, Korea, Canada, Thailand, Switzerland, India, and other countries. He also exchanged views with Chicago alderpersons and Wisconsin state legislators on the continued progress of U.S.–Taiwan relations, further strengthening Taiwan’s friendship and cooperation with partners across the Midwest.

［強烈譴責中國在我國東部專屬經濟海域違反國際法的各項行動］

外交部針對中國近日侵害我國主權權利，非法襲擾我國東部海域自由航行貨輪的荒誕行徑予以嚴厲譴責，並提出聲明：

🔹 我國擁有合法海域權利：中華民國台灣與中華人民共和國互不隸屬，我國在東部海域享有聯合國海洋法公約「專屬經濟海域」相關規範所賦予的各項主權權利，中國無權在該海域對自由航行船隻採取任何違法行動。

🔹 中國行為破壞區域穩定：重申我國領土主權及主權權利不容侵犯，中國妄圖在我國海域騷擾過往船隻之行徑已違反相關國際法及公約，嚴重破壞現狀，甚至混淆國際視聽。

🔹 籲請國際社會共同反對：呼籲國際社會正視中國非法行動對區域安全的威脅，共同反對中國的違法行徑。

我國政府也將傾跨部會力量守護海域安全，並持續爭取理念相近國家支持共同與我維護印太安全🤝

MOFA strongly condemns the PRC for actions in Taiwan’s eastern EEZ that violate international law!

MOFA strongly condemns the PRC for its absurd actions in infringing upon Taiwan’s sovereign rights and illegally interfering with ships at sea, and reiterates:

🔹 Neither the ROC (Taiwan) nor the People’s Republic of China is subordinate to the other; Taiwan enjoys all sovereign rights in its eastern waters granted by the relevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea regarding exclusive economic zones; the PRC has no right to take illegal actions within Taiwan’s exclusive economic zone against any vessels exercising their right of freedom of navigation.

🔹 Taiwan will not tolerate any violation of its territorial sovereignty and sovereign rights. Moreover, Taiwan will not accept attempts by the PRC to interfere in any way with vessels passing through Taiwan’s waters. Such actions violate international law and conventions, gravely disrupt the status quo, and justify its unlawful maritime harassment with fabricated pretexts.

🔹 We urge the international community to recognize the serious and immediate threat that China’s illegal actions pose to regional peace and stability, and to jointly oppose the PRC’s unlawful conduct.

The government of Taiwan will coordinate efforts across ministries and agencies to safeguard maritime security and continue to seek the support of like-minded nations in jointly maintaining security in the Indo-Pacific region. 🤝

This week marks the celebration of Philippine Independence Day. 🇺🇸The Cook County Treasurer, Maria Pappas, together with the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, organized a commemorative event to honor the occasion. 🇹🇼Director General Dennis Lei of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago attended the event upon invitation.

During the celebration, Director General Lei conveyed his regards and best wishes to 🇵🇭Philippine Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano, expressing hopes for the success of the Independence Day festivities. The event also featured traditional Philippine dance performances, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. 駐芝加哥辦事處類總領事延峰偕楊副領事家豪6月8日晚間應印第安納大學 Hamilton Lugar 國際學院院長 David Bosco 邀請，出席該學院與位於華府的國際知名民主與自由倡議機構「自由之家」（Freedom House）特別在芝加哥合辦的全球民主座談活動。

自由之家執行長 Jamie Fly 於會中分享當前全球民主面臨的挑戰與展望。類總領事亦於問答交流中回應並提出台灣觀點，表示台灣長年在面對威權國家複合式威脅的挑戰下，仍在全球自由度評比中名列前茅，展現台灣人民對民主、自由與人權價值的堅定承諾；面對日益複雜的外部挑戰，台灣將持續透過經貿投資、科技合作與民間交流，深化與美國及理念相近民主夥伴的關係，共同強化民主陣營的韌性。

本次活動吸引印第安納大學師生及芝加哥政學界人士踴躍參與，現場交流熱絡，充分展現各界對全球民主發展及台灣角色的高度關注。

Director General Dennis Yen-feng Lei attended a global democracy dialogue today in Chicago at the invitation of David Bosco, Acting Dean of the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University. The event was co-hosted by the Hamilton Lugar School and Freedom House, a leading organization known for its annual global freedom assessments.

During the discussion, Freedom House President and CEO Jamie Fly shared his insights on the challenges and outlook for democracy around the world. In the Q&A session, Director General Lei offered Taiwan’s perspective, noting that Taiwan has consistently ranked among the world’s freest societies and remains deeply committed to democratic values, freedom, and human rights. He also emphasized that, amid growing external challenges, Taiwan will continue to strengthen ties with the United States and other like-minded democratic partners through trade, investment, technology cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

The event brought together students, faculty, and members of the policy and academic communities from Indiana University and Chicago, generating a lively and meaningful exchange on the future of global democracy and Taiwan’s role in it.

由美國西北大學（Northwestern University）師生17人組成的華語文研習及科技交流團，即將於6月13日至23日前往臺灣，展開為期11天的深度交流行程。此次交流團將走訪臺灣重要學術、科研及產業機構，包括國立臺灣大學、國立清華大學、中央研究院及鴻海等，透過實地參訪與交流，親身感受臺灣在高等教育、科技創新及產業發展方面的豐碩成果。

為協助同學們做好行前準備，西北大學6月5日舉辦行前說明會，並特別邀請駐芝加哥辦事處類總領事延峰暨相關同仁及台灣之友基金會（Friends of Taiwan Foundation）Jerry Lee先生出席與同學們交流。

說明會中，類總領事向同學們演講台美關係，並介紹臺灣多元豐富的人文特色，也勉勵同學們把握難得機會，實地走訪與文化交流，讓同學們對即將到來的臺灣之行充滿期待。
