The 24th District Police will be holding an in-person CAPS meeting for Beat 2413 tonight (June 23). The meeting will be held at Green Briar Park, 2650 W Peterson, at 7 PM.

Beat 2413 covers the area from Devon to Peterson and from Kedzie to Ridge. This event is a great opportunity to meet the officers who patrol your community and discuss safety concerns directly with the police and your neighbors. For more information, call 312-744-6321.

The 24th District Police notified me of a shooting that occurred this morning around 5:30 AM on the 2600 block of W Glenlake, in the neighboring 40th Ward. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for the Chicago area through 9:00 PM today. Due to the severe storm, the Water Reclamation District has declared today as an Overflow Action Day. Help prevent basement backups and sewer overflows by reducing your water use.

Here are three easy ways that you can help reduce the amount of water in the sewer system:

• Delay showers and baths
• Flush less frequently
• Wait to run the dishwasher or washing machine

I was honored to join Libenu, community leaders, and families for the groundbreaking of the Lev Avigayil Respite Center on Touhy Avenue. This new center will provide a permanent home for Libenu’s respite programs serving children with intellectual and developmental disabilities while helping expand services for adults in our community.
