Brothers and Sisters,

Tomorrow, the defendant in the trial for the murder of Capt. David Meyer will be seeking pretrial release from jail. For those unfamiliar, this is called a detention hearing. It is extremely important that we get as many of our members in that courtroom tomorrow. We have lost three Members in the line of duty because of arsonists. It is imperative that the Court system understands that we will not take this lying down and we don't want an arsonist that murdered our member to be released! Support is always welcome at court, but tomorrow we must pack that courtroom!

So, please, come out and support our Dave Meyer and His Family!
Tomorrow-June 24, 2026
Cook County Criminal Court

Courtroom 208-9 AM

Fraternally,

Captain William Sikora, 35 - Squad Co. 2
Chicago Fire Department. Chicago, IL
Captain William Sikora of Squad 2 died in the line of duty while rescuing trapped construction workers from an underground caisson chamber at 714 West Jackson Boulevard. Firefighters responded to the scene after three workers in the chamber collapsed and lost consciousness due to leaking sewer gas. Sikora descended into the caisson chamber wearing a breathing apparatus, and successfully revived two construction workers who he sent to the surface. Sikora also recovered the body of one dead worker, but he collapsed from asphyxiation when his breathing apparatus ran out of oxygen before he himself could climb out of the caisson.
