Members of the US House of Representatives are considering the BUILD America 250 Act, a new surface transportation reauthorization bill that will determine how hundreds of billions of dollars of federal funds are spent. Investments range from public transit, bike lanes, and rail, but historically the bulk of funding has gone toward roads and highways.

Unfortunately, the bill looks like the highway contractors' wish list—no surprise given the influence automobile, oil, roadbuilding, and trucking industries have exerted over infrastructure policy.

Join the RTA’s Transit is the Answer Coalition meeting from 9:30–11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, to hear an update on the agency's transition to NITA and provide feedback on the proposed 2026 Operating Budget Amendment. This meeting is an opportunity to learn what’s proposed, ask questions, and provide feedback before the amendment advances to the RTA Board for a vote in May.
