Last week DSS was honored to host a delegation from Isabela, Puerto Rico and give a tour of our material recovery facility. Isabela received a $5M grant to support recycling and waste infrastructure. It was our pleasure to welcome and share insights with the group.

DSS continues to work diligently to address storm-related debris and damage throughout the city. Crews will remain in the field through this evening and will resume operations tomorrow with approximately 250 garbage trucks dedicated to debris collection efforts, working in coordination with Ward Superintendents and other field personnel to expedite cleanup operations citywide.
The additional waves of severe weather that moved through the city last night generated new service requests and resulted in approximately 400 additional blocked roadways due to downed trees, large limbs, and other storm-related hazards. Our immediate priority remains reopening these streets to ensure safe passage for residents, businesses, and emergency responders.
Once blocked roadways have been cleared, crews will continue working through the remaining debris removal requests and other storm-related service calls. Given the volume of requests received, we appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams continue recovery operations.
We ask that residents continue reporting storm-related issues through 311 so that requests can be tracked and addressed as efficiently as possible.
