Mindful Bingo Wellness Session Draws 25 Participants for an Engaging Discussion on Mental Wellness

Holsten Human Capital Development (HHCD), in partnership with WGMC Health Partnership, successfully hosted a Mindful Bingo wellness session that brought together 25 participants for an afternoon focused on mindfulness, mental health, and personal growth.

Facilitated by special guest speaker Latraevette McCline, the session provided a welcoming and supportive environment where participants explored practical strategies for improving emotional well-being and overall quality of life. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions about coping skills, mindfulness practices, core strategies for success, depression, anxiety, and the importance of being present in the moment.

Throughout the event, participants learned techniques to better manage everyday stressors, recognize emotional triggers, and develop healthy habits that promote resilience and self-care. The interactive format combines educational content with wellness trivia, bingo activities, and prizes, creating a fun and engaging experience while reinforcing important mental health concepts.

The session emphasized that mindfulness is not only about relaxation, but also about becoming more aware of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a way that supports healthier decision-making and emotional balance. Participants shared personal insights, asked thoughtful questions, and left with practical tools they can use in their daily lives.

HHCD remains committed to providing opportunities that promote mental, behavioral, and emotional wellness within the community. The strong turnout and active participation demonstrated the growing interest in mental health education and the value of creating safe spaces where individuals can learn, connect, and support one another.

We thank all 25 participants, our partners at WGMC Health Partnership, & guest speaker Latraevette McCline for making this event a meaningful and successful experience. Together, we continue to build healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities.

HHCD was honored to participate in Feeding America National Organization's Annual All Team Meeting at the Q Center in St. Charles. Panelists included Julie Yurko, CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank, Dr Elizabeth Protich; HHCD Senior Program Manager/H.E.A.L Pantry and Paul Matsushima, Director of Pantry Operations West Suburban Community Pantry.

During the panel discussion, we explored how we are delivering on what neighbors have told us they want and need through Feeding America's Strategic Framework and how Feeding America National Organization is supporting local efforts to advance neighbor-centered solutions.

The conversation emphasized the importance of listening to neighbors, elevating lived experiences, and building authentic partnerships that drive meaningful change. Together, we discussed how collaboration between national leadership, food banks, and community-based organizations helps strengthen access to food, health resources, housing supports, workforce opportunities, and other critical services that promote long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

As Senior Program Manager at Holsten Human Capital Development, I was honored to share insights from our work in the community and the impact that can be achieved when neighbors are engaged as partners in shaping programs and services.

Thank you to Feeding America for the opportunity to participate in this powerful conversation and for its commitment to ensuring that neighbor voices remain at the center of our collective work.

On June 3rd HHCD hosted its annual graduation celebration for Hilliard graduates. All Hilliard 2026 graduates were invited; each graduate was allowed to bring a guess. Even if they weren’t a graduate and just wanted to stop in to help celebrate the graduates, they were welcome.

HHCD wanted to acknowledge the graduates and let them know we were proud of them. Each graduate who attended stood up and stated their name, what grade graduating from, what school graduating from and where they will be attending in the fall or other plans they may have. Each graduate was able to select a 2026 graduate souvenir to take home.
