Planning for emergencies can be overwhelming. That is why my office is partnering with Congressman Garcia’s office to host rapid response mobile hours.

These services are not only for those who have been affected by detentions or deportations. Come by for assistance with emergency planning, locating US citizens, case management, and other federal agency matters.

We will be hosting these hours on:
June 24th 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
July 1st 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
July 16th 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
July 22nd 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

In 2021, Illinois enacted a law to mark Juneteenth as a state holiday. Join me to celebrate the occasion by amplifying Black voices, music and art, and speaking out against hate and injustice in our state and nation.

This spring, my colleagues and I passed a responsible budget that funds education, food security, health care, violence prevention programs and other essential resources, and we advanced a responsible revenue package that bolsters new revenue sources without placing taxes on everyday people. Today, they were both signed into law. I was proud to join Governor JB Pritzker and some of my colleagues in the General Assembly for the signing of the Fiscal Year 2027 spending plan in Chicago this afternoon. At a time when so many Illinoisans are forced to live in fear and instability, we are making it clear we value affordability, safety and dignity for our residents – especially for working and immigrant families.

This year required practical decisions from lawmakers, but we came together to uplift those most in need and make the wealthiest in our state pay their fair share. As the federal government continues to wreak havoc in the lives of working, low-income and immigrant families, I’m dedicated to putting in the hard work that continues to make Illinois the best place to live, work and raise a family – and the signing of this spending plan proves it. Read more about the implementation of the FY 27 revenue package by visiting my website.

When the weather gets warm, the city gets busy, and this past weekend was no exception.

The weekend kicked off with a beautiful celebration of the hard work and dedication El Valor has given to our community this year. We helped combat identity theft by shredding documents at the 12th Ward’s Shred-a-thon. Finally, we got to spend time talking to families and organizations at Maria Saucedo’s Community Summit, hosted by the Marshall Square Resource Network.
