Welcome back to our Legislative Wins from the Spring 2026 session of the Illinois General Assembly.

We're excited to share the rest of the new laws and policies protecting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) that were passed in Illinois this spring.

This is Part 2, so make sure you check our page for Part 1 which we posted on Monday.

We couldn't have secured these wins without YOU.

Thank you so much to everyone who turned up and made your voices heard.

There's still more work to do!

Our team is getting ready for the City of Chicago and Cook County's budget session with more organizing legislative efforts yet to come!

This year, The Network's Policy, Advocacy, and Research team has diligently worked with Illinois lawmakers to improve safety for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).

But we couldn't have done it without YOU.

YOU turned up, emailed your elected officials, submitted witness slips, and shared campaigns this spring, all in the name of uplifting and protecting survivors of GBV.

We're excited to share the new laws and policies that were passed in Illinois this spring:

But this is just part 1! Keep an eye out for part 2 on Wednesday where we share more of our legislative wins, and a special thank you message for everyone fighting to end gender-based violence in your communities.

Survivors deserve resources that actually support their safety and healing. Instead of increasing police funding that has repeatedly fallen short, The Network urges the Mayor’s Office and City Council to prioritize community‑based services for survivors of gender‑based violence. Need help? The Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 877‑863‑6338.
