The annual Flag Day ceremony was held this morning in Old Town Clovis, and members of our Clovis City Council and Clovis Fire Department joined members of the community in the celebration of our nation’s flag. Thank you to the Clovis Elks Lodge No. 2599 and Scout Troop 257 for putting on this moving ceremony, made even more meaningful this year as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of these United States. 🇺🇸 Thank you as well to State Assemblyman David Tangipa for his powerful speech and to the Clovis High Band for their beautiful performance!

Please join us in thanking Chief Ekk for his service as he retires from our Clovis Fire Department and congratulating our incoming Fire Chief, Jason Ralls!
We are proud to announce the selection of Jason Ralls as the next Fire Chief of the Clovis Fire Department.
A nearly 30-year veteran of Clovis Fire, Ralls currently serves as Deputy Fire Chief and has held every rank within the department since joining in 1996. He will lead a team of 83 firefighters and 8 support staff while overseeing a $31.5 million budget.
Ralls succeeds Fire Chief Chris Ekk, who will retire on July 31 after three years as Fire Chief and a distinguished career in the fire service.
Please join us in congratulating Chief Ralls on this well-deserved appointment. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Chief Ekk for his dedicated leadership and service to the Clovis community and wish him a happy, healthy, and well-earned retirement.

All Clovis residents are reminded to take the following safety precautions during extreme heat:
Slow Down - Strenuous activities should be reduced, eliminated, or rescheduled to the coolest time of the day. Individuals at risk should stay in the coolest available place, not necessarily at home.
Dress for Summer - Lightweight, light-colored clothing reflects heat and sunlight and helps your body maintain normal temperatures.
Eat Right - Fruits and vegetables help the body maintain an appropriate balance. Avoid fatty foods that can cause the body to increase metabolic heat production which increases water loss.
Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of water or other non-alcoholic fluids. Your body needs to keep cool, and it’s important to drink fluids even if you don't feel thirsty. Persons who have epilepsy, heart/kidney or liver disease, are on fluid-restrictive diets, or have a problem with fluid retention should consult a physician before increasing their consumption of fluids.
Check on At-Risk Family/Friends - During extreme heat conditions, check twice a day on friends and family members who are elderly, medically fragile, or have limited access to adequate cooling.
Protect Your Pets - Bring pets inside during the hottest time of the day. Never leave pets in a parked car. Provide plenty of fresh water and shade for outdoor pets.

As part of our Bike Month celebration, we've put together a special map highlighting a few of the best bike paths into Old Town Clovis and some of the places you can lock your bike while visiting! Bike into Old Town for our Friday Night or Saturday Morning Farmers Markets, weekend events, or just to stop in and support our local businesses. By choosing to bike instead of drive, you'll get some great exercise, help improve our air quality by reducing emissions, and save yourself a few dollars on gas and a few minutes of your time finding a parking space – so let's get riding, Clovis!
Bike riders, what paths do you like to take into Old Town? We'd love to hear your recommendations in the comments for alternate paths and bike parking!
