Today, the Board of County Commissioners proclaimed July 4 as America’s 250th Birthday Celebration in El Paso County.

To mark the occasion, commissioners planted American flags and were joined by Allyssa Duncan, who performed the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful," a song with deep ties to El Paso County, inspired by the view from the summit of Pikes Peak.

As we prepare to celebrate 250 years of American Independence, the Board encourages residents to reflect on our nation’s history and join in the celebration with patriotic displays of the flag, red, white and blue, parades, and local festivities.

Together, we honor the courage and sacrifice that shaped our country while looking ahead with a spirit of innovation and unity for the next 250 years.
