Last week, a line of storms with severe straight line winds moved across much of the AMP Member footprint, and the cities of Amherst and Celina requested mutual aid after experiencing large outage events.
In Amherst, there were numerous downed poles and power lines, and crews from Oberlin and Wellington assisted in restoration. In Celina, there were eight poles, several transmission poles, and six 50-foot distribution feeder poles knocked down, causing widespread outages. Electric crews from Bryan and Hamilton quickly responded, with Minster and Wapakoneta providing additional poles and materials needed for restoration.
Thank you for the teamwork and support from all the responding communities.

AMP is pleased to feature East Conemaugh and its 113-year-old utility in our Member spotlight. Located in southwestern Pennsylvania, East Conemaugh is situated in Cambria County and has been an AMP Member since 2005.
Located on the banks of the Little Conemaugh River, the borough was incorporated in 1868 and is about 0.27 square miles in size. East Conemaugh served as a Pennsylvania Railroad marshaling site, where helper engines were added to trains heading up the mountain.
On May 31, 1889, the borough was in the path of the catastrophic Johnstown Flood. A railroad engineer, John Hess, warned residents by rushing a locomotive into town and sounding the whistle, which likely saved many lives. Despite his efforts, 22 passengers on waiting trains lost their lives and 40 homes were destroyed.
Today, East Conemaugh is home to about 1,200 residents. The borough has an abiding love of baseball and has had thriving youth baseball and softball leagues since the 1960s; local funding helped those leagues add night games in 2010.
